The Canton YMCA held a singles dance around 1960. My mom and dad were there separately, and danced together for about a minute.
About a year later my mom was walking through the parking lot with a group of girlfriends at Myers Lake. My dad was driving by in his broken down 1954 red Chevy Bel Air. My dad parked and went up to my mom, and asked if he could take her out for a Coke. She said yes! She always told me, if he would have asked her out for a drink, she would have said, No!
