West Side Market

Ohio City! Cleveland, Ohio

Alyson introduced me to the West Side Market this past Monday.  While we were there, we stopped at the Market place, the fruits, and vegetable stands, and ate our lunch at Ohio City Burrito!

I am working on Inverted Intersections II, The Corners Where You Live, Canton, Ohio.  I was inspired to add the market places of Canton to this program.  There were four city controlled, city owned market locations in Canton.  The fifth market place, which most of you are familiar with, may have been privately owned and operated.

In this latest installment of the Hildebrand photographs I will show you the locations of the market places, and update you on the plans for a new market place, in Canton…

New Philadelphia, Ohio

The museum staff was invited  to visit the J.E. Reeves Victorian Home and Museum in Dover, Ohio.  Five staff members and one guest toured the Carriage House from 1902, and the house that Valentine Wills built in the late 1860’s, and Jeremiah Reeves purchased in 1898.

We learned a piece of Tuscarawas History, we made new friends, and we shared ideas to benefit both our museum and the J.E. Reeves Victorian Home and Museum.

The house is decorated for Christmas in the theme of World War I.  Their staff and volunteers did a fantastic job creating a classy presentation, that peaks your interest!

Thank you to Curator, Tabitha Johnson for the very informative, and interesting tour of the main house!  Thank you to Executive Director, Tammi Mackey Shrum for inviting us to visit, and collaborate!

McK facing left-2

William McKinley endured many hardships in his life.  His solid upbringing, and his loving parents were a help to him, so many years later.

Major McKinley knew how to “win friends, and influence people” He had a knack for remembering your name that served him well in politics, and in social gatherings.

He did as Dale Carnegie would instruct more than a half a century later, “do as the puppy does.  A puppy practically jumps out of their skin to see you”

William McKinley demonstrated to us kindness, generosity, and love for his children, wife, family, and friends.

He was a likable person, and countless people from all over the world grieved his passing.

We remember him most for speaking to us from the heart, and helping us see the good in all.

We honor him, and all that he accomplished from his Civil War service to his service in public life as; Stark County Prosecutor, U.S. Congressman, Ohio State Governor, and 25th President of the United States.
